BYRD, BRIGHT D., Private
Born in Harnett County where he enlisted on April 29, 1862 for the war. Reported present in November-December 1862 and September-December 1863. Hospitalized at Wilmington on February 22, 1864 after he fell under a railroad car while boarding a train and severely injured one of his feet. Foot amputated. Died in hospital at Wilmington on or about March 25, 1864 of injuries and/or "febris typhoids."
