June 1901. The marriage record indicates he was the son of Dan iel and
Esther Byrd, both listed as dead, resident of Harnett County, and she was
Mrs. Elmira Matthews, the daughter of James and "Cathr Sunday," both
l isted as dead, a resident of Cumberland County. The license was
obtained 4 June 1901. Stella Matthews and Dora Matthews both of Harnett
County and Kati e Justice of Wake County witnessed the marriage. They
were married in Hector s Creek Township by James D. Dennis, Minister of
the Gospel.
Her Harnett Cou nty Will in the name of Elmira Byrd was signed 18 Nov 1919
and recorded 13 Ja n 1928. In it she mentions her children, Dora
Matthews, Alice Hamilton, Ida Hamilton, Kate Justice, Hattie Betts,
