      HARNETT COUNTY NEWS 18 Oct 2000:
      James N. Thomas
      James Nello Thomas, 62, of 409 Vernon St., Broadway, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, at his home. He was born Jan. 23, 1938 in Lee County to the late Ernest and Zola Inez Thomas Thomas. He was an insurance agent in Broadway for over 40 years. He first worked with Shaw Insurance Agency, then with Lee-Moore Insurance Agency of Broadway.. Mr. Thomas was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Broadway Lions Club and was also a retired member of the Broadway Fire Department. Mr. Thomas had served on the board of directors for the BB&T Bank in Broadway.. He was a member of Broadway Presbyterian Church and served as an elder in the church.
      Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 13, at Broadway Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Dr. Harold Stone. Burial followed in Broadway Town Cemetery.
      Survivors include his wife, Janice B. Thomas, one son, Michael B. Thomas of Broadway; one daughter, Michele Cox of Sanford; two brothers, Gerald Thomas and Gene Gray Thomas, both of Broadway; two sisters, Rebecca T. Nordan of Broadway and Inez T. Weldon of Sanford; and four grandchildren.
      In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Broadway Presbyterian Church or to the American Cancer Society.
