January 10, 2001: The old Denning Cemetary lies in the middle of a field, badly in need of clean-up. At this writing there are some family members who are attempting to restore the cemetary to decent shape. Joel Jr. and Mary (Gregory) Denning along with Joel Sr. and Elizabeth (Jernigan) Denning are buried there with other members of the Denning family. Photos of tombstones are on file in book as well as the scrapbook in this program. There isn't a picture here of Joel Jr.'s headstone. There is an old burned down house close to the cemetary and this is where it is said the original home of Joel Denning, Sr. stood. Horses were kept in an adjacent lot for use by the Old Stage Coach. Joel Jr.'s brother, Alexandrew, was a stage coach driver according to his obit.
2002 - A revisit to the old cemetary showed much improvement had been done during the restoration.

Confederate Home Guard Examinations 1863-1864" Joel Denning Age 48; general rheumatism, Summerville Oct 31, 1863. Joined Senior Reserves Aug 10,1864."
