"...My mother was a Denton, born 12 March 1894, in Denton's Valley, Sullivan Co., Tenn., 3/4-mi. from the Tenn/Va State Line. Her mother was Lillie Alice Olivene (White) Denton (1865-1940), daughter of John L. White and Sidney Jane Aven(t), these families from Wash. Co., Va. Sidney Jane (b. 1820) was dau. of Allen Avent & Barsheba Truelove, who were double second cousins, and Barsheba was dau. of Timothy Truelove & Lucy, dau. of Peter & Amy (Massey) Avent. Allen Avent (above) was son of Thomas & Rebecca (Stevens) Avent, and grandson of Wm. & Sarah (Massey) Avent. Think I have this correct (am doing it from memory). Brothers (Wm. & Peter Avent) m. sisters (Sarah & Amy Massie) and their children were Thomas (son of Wm.) & Lucy (dau. of Peter) whose children Allen married Barsheba...."
