      Stephen Henry was a Baptist Minister like his father. He was born February 16th 1814 in Washington Co. at St. Clair's Bottom, Virginia. His first wife Drucilla Dixon died shortly after giving birth to Enoch D. By the time Stephen Henry married Sarah Sally Long Landreth on August 2nd 1846 who was from Grayson Co. Virginia. He had moved to the Grayson Co. area which is on the state line south of Wythville, Virginia. Their first five children together were born there in Grayson Co. Virginia. "Drury Senter", Stephen Henry's father who in 1840 moved to the Grayson Co. Virginia area also, died there from Dispepsa on January 10th 1853.

      Stephen Henry moved his family to Elkhorn City, Kentucky area by 1852. His daughter Martha Jane was born in Wise Co. Virginia on August 2nd 1852 according to her birth record. At that time Wise Co. included what is now Dickenson Co. The first Election of Wise County officials, in May 1856, Stephen Henry Senter was voted in as one of 20 Justices Of the Peace. His second wife Sarah "Sally" Senter died on November 1st 1867. Stephen Henry married for the third time to Hulda Mullins on November 28th 1868 at the Wise Co. Court House.

      Stephen Henry traveled on a mule, to preach on both the Kentucky and Virginia side of the Cumberland Mountains while he lived there. He is buried in the cemetery overlooking Elkhorn City. And a memorial stone was placed there in the 1970s by some of his descendents. Many of the People in Eastern Kentucky, and Southwestern Virginia, can trace their ancestry back to the large family of Stephen Henry Senter.
