Peggy M. Cannady, 72
Peggy Mason Cannady, 72, of Dunn died Friday morning at her home after a short recent illness.
She was born in Harnett County to Blonza Lynch Mason and the late Norman Kern Mason, but was reared and spent her youth in Wilson, where she had a local radio show.
She was a graduate of Charles L. Coon High School and Atlantic Christian College. Mrs. Cannady taught public school for more than 30 years in Sampson and Johnston counties, retiring from the Harnett County School Syste
She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church choir.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church by Dr. Colon Jackson and the Rev. Glenn Mason. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Robert W. Cannady; two daughters, Tobie Haskins of Raleigh and Kristi Ratté of High Point; her mother, Blonza Mason of Wilson; two brothers, Franklin Mason of Lexington and Kemp Mason of Charleston, Tenn.; grandchildren, Karlin Haskins, Jake Haskins, Brianna Ratté and Devin Ratté.
