      Wills Point Chronicle March 1, 1928

      Funeral service was held Friday afternoon of last week at the Union Grove cemetery for Rev. G. W. Lewelling, conducted by Rev. J. A. Kidd, pastor of the Wills Point Baptist church, and Rev. J. W. Champion. The deceased was born in Dallas, Miss., March 21, 1845, lived a consistent Christian life from early manhood, joining the Methodist church at the age of 15. He was called to preach the gospel at 39, and continued in the service as long as he was physically able. In 1860 he was married to Miss Katherine Salmon and to this union 12 children were born, 6 boys and 6 girls, nine of whom survive, one daughter and three sons being at his bedside when he passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. M. Rankin, February 23, near Wills Point. The following children survive:
      W. R. Lewelling, Memphis, Tennessee;
      J. A. Lewelling, Hovellhurst, Miss;
      J. K. Lewelling, El Paso, Texas;
      G. W. Lewelling, Itasca, Texas;
      D. B. Lewelling, Canton, Texas;
      A.D. Lewelling, Houston Texas;
      Mrs. J. M. Rankin, Wills Point;
      Mrs. S.D. Addington, Water Valley, Miss;
      also 36 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
      The following acted as pall bearers:
      J. W. Richards, H. A. Gidins,
      Grady Hunnicutt, W. C. Lancaster,
      J. C. and F. G. Hardy.
