I am looking for information on my great grandfather "Jake Matthews". He married
Nancy E. Gregory, the daughter of Neil and Winniford Gregory of Neils Creek, Harnett Co.,Nc. Nancy was born in 1867. I know that her husband was a T. J. Matthews and that he was called Jake. He is buried in Buies Creek, N.C. in an unmarked grave on land he once owned. My great grandmother is buried at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Buies Creek, NC.
Jake and Nancy had four children. Carlie, Lexie, Marvin , and Rhoda (my grandmother).
Jake left my Great Grandmother and married Nancy, "Nannie" Matthews of Coats NC.
Jake was a brick mason.
I think my grandfather was Theophilus Jacob Matthews that you listed as the son of Reuben Matthews. He is the right age and in the right area. Could you please help
me.

I told my uncle the names you had listed of T. J.'s brothers and sisters. He remembered two of them. Manly and Olander. He said Olander's farm was near Jake's farm.
So Theophilus Jacob is indeed my "Jake".
