Enlisted in Cumberland County at age 34, February 20, 1862 for three years. Present or accounted for through August 1864. Captured at Ft. Fisher January 15, 1865 and confined at Elmira, N. Y. , until paroled and exchanged at Boulware's Wharf, James River, VA., March 18-20, 1865. Admitted to hospital at Richmond, VA., March 19, 1865 and furloughed for thirty days March 23, 1865.
