He may be from the village of Knocknofeolamane. His children are an unnamed daughter christened 29 April 1722 at Jura, Argyll, Scotland, and Kenneth, John, Alexander, Archibald and Hugh. (Archibald names Hugh as his brother in his 1792 will recorded in Cumberland co, NC. Kenneth, John, Alexander, and Archibald are considered by most researchers to be brothers and sons of Malcolm Black and wife, Catherine McArthur. "
