"I am Odis Arnold, born 1947. My father was Edgar Lamar Arnold, b. 1907 in Brandon, Hill county Texas . His father was Carl Rosco Arnold, b. 1883 in Harnett county North Carolina. Parents of Carl Rosco were Joseph William Arnold and Martha Francis Thomas. Joseph William was born ca. 1848 in likely Cumberland county North Carolina. He was son of James H. 'Jim' Arnold and Kissadia Prince. Jim Arnold, b. ca. 1825 was son of William S. Arnold and Elizabeth 'Betsey' Douglas. He was the grandson of Solomon Arnold and Mary Gurley.
My gr-grandfather, Joseph William Arnold, moved from North Carolina to Texas about 1892/93. All his children moved with him. Two of his sisters also came on the trip. They were married, one to Rufus Ausley and the other to J. G. Johnson. The trip from N.C. to Mart, McLennan county Texas took 14 weeks by wagon. One of Joseph William Arnolds children, the oldest, Lillie Virginia Arnold, was married to William David Dennis. They married 12 Sept. 1889 in Harnett county. The other six children in order from oldest down were: Mary Etta Arnold, b. 1870, Florence Elizabeth Arnold, b. Nov. 1872, James Aaron Arnold, b. Mar. 1875, Ada Marion Arnold, b. Nov. 1880, Erma Lola Arnold, b. Aug. 1881 and last my gr-grandfather, Carl Rosco Arnold, b. 16 Sept. 1883. All these children stayed in Texas, married here (except Lillie Virginia who married in N.C.) and died here. My father, my grandparents are buried at the Richland city cemetery here where I live.
James A(aron) Arnold whom you mention in your email and have in your pedigree chart never had any children. He was b. 1875 and he married in 1925 to a lady named Tempie Williamson who lived in Cherokee county Texas. Age being a factor by the time they married, both 50 years old, they never had any children. They lived out their lives in Cherokee county and are buried at a small cemetery a few miles out of Alto, Texas. The other male child of Joseph William Arnold, my gr-grandfather, Carl Rosco Arnold also had seven children, but five of his were boys. So the line from Joseph William continued there. There are a lot of descendants of Carl Rosco in Navarro, Freestone, Limestone, McLennan and other counties around them. Let me hear from you. Odis Arnold. "
